Effect of Colour of Light on Rooting Cuttings and Subsequent Growth of Chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum × grandiflorum Ramat./Kitam.)

A closed system for plant production with artificial light is an innovative method of cultivation. The objective this study was to investigate the effect colour on rooting cuttings and subsequent growth chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum × grandiflorum Ramat./Kitam.) During experiments, following conditions were maintained: photoperiod 16 h or 10 h, temperature 22 °C, relative humidity 65–70%. LED lamps emitted colours: white, blue, white + blue (50:50), red (75:25). For all spectra, photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD) 50 μmol m−2 s−1. effectiveness exposure different colours measured parameters: cutting weight (g), length (cm), roots, index leaf greenness (SPAD). measurements referred features determining quality, i.e., number flower buds head, diameter height plants, (SPAD), leaves, fresh dry weights aboveground parts plants. are integral processes in cultivation potted chrysanthemums. Both differently affected by from lamps. resulted highest (SPAD) value shortest longest roots. White significantly influenced most parameters, except plants leaves.
